Meet The Founder
Hi I’m Sonam and here’s my story. I loved doing my nails ever since I could remember. Whenever we had a function growing up I used to make sure everyone had their hands and feet polished. I owned sooo many nail polishes it was crazy, but with my sisters and my mum we defo made great use of it.
The Problem I Faced
When we had big celebrations at home we would get our nails professionally done at the salon. Seemed like the obvious choice. As I got older and became a mum I found this option difficult. Always worrying about my kids causing chaos at home, I couldn’t relax at my nail appointments. With each appointment being 1-2 hours long it was stressful for me. Even after having acrylic extensions done, I would never prioritise going back to the salon every 2 weeks to look after them. I’d fall in the trap of letting it grow out, filing them down myself, pulling them off or worse trying to file them off. I had no idea the damage I was causing. To be honest you don’t think about it when you have young children.
How Sonam’s Nailmix Began
I wanted to go back to work but because I also wanted be at home with my young kids I decided to build a business. My older two sisters have always been an inspiration to me. They have built their own businesses from scratch and I wanted to also build something of my own too. My mum is like my superhero and being a single parent she is always a powerhouse. My hubby gave me so much confidence and reassurance that I needed to just go for it. He became my backbone. Without my supportive family there would be no Sonam’s Nailmix.
Why I Created Sonam’s Nailmix
Sonam’s Nailmix was born because I really wanted to create something easy for busy mums like me. This quickly expanded to a wider audience. The more women I spoke to, I realised that so many women voiced the same issue. They didn’t like long salon appointments. They didn’t want to pay to get their nails safely removed, and then attempt all means to do it themselves to save cost. They hated the damage caused from improper removals. The biggest one is not being able to the get the pretty detailed designs at the salon because, they don’t have enough time or charge more to do it. Then when they try the affordable press on nails from the supermarket they don’t last. They may chip or pop off causing embarrassment. There would also be a sizing issue too, especially for teenage girls with smaller nails.
The Solution
I realised there were lots of problems that women were facing in the nail industry so I needed to come up with a simple and easy to use solution. I wanted to create lovely designs that the salon may not be able to provide due to time restrictions. I wanted custom fitting so you get the nails that fit you! I created an application kit that actually looks after you. Our special item is the debonder liquid that allows you to remove your nails quickly and safely. Typically this item is not available with other press on nail packages. For teenagers, or those prone to allergies, I wanted to add sticky tabs so the risk of allergic reactions to glue is not possible. I included cuticle nail oil to keep your nails healthy. Our application is a well thought out kit that actually has everything you need so you can have lovely nails without compromise. The best part is that all the nails are re-usable! Exactly. Keep them in the case and save them for your next event.
